FRASERVILLE, ONTARIO (September 23, 2007) – Driving the EMCEA Transport - Tim Hortons Fastline Motorsports entry, Jim Lapcevich finished seventh at the Dodge Dealers of Ontario Dodge Charger 250 presented by Allied Steel Buildings in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series over the weekend.
"We bent the tow with forty to go," smiled the aspiring poet Lapcevich after the race. "What can I say, we were running well all day, and it was just one of those racing deals."
Lapcevich started 13th in the 25-car field, on the 3/8th-mile, high banked, asphalt oval in Fraserville, Ontario in the final event in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Kawartha Speedway.
"I'm pleasantly pleased with our team this year," added Lapcevich. "We were in the hunt during the final stages of a number of races. I would have hopped for a better ending, but that's the way it goes."
"We're fortunate to have first class sponsors like Tim Hortons and EMCEA Transport, they make it happen, and we certainly couldn't do it without their support."
Scott Steckly won the event followed by Peter Gibbons in second and Ron Beauchamp, Jr. third in the race that had nine lead changes between four drivers and nine cautions for 61 laps.

NCATS: RANGER AND JACOMBS MAKE HISTORY AT KAWARTHA
PETERBOROUGH, ON - Sunday night at Kawartha Speedway in Peterborough, ON, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series crowned their first champion - Andrew Ranger driver of the No. 27 Wal-Mart/Tide/Jacombs Racing prepared Ford Fusion. Ranger went into the event with a slim 41 point lead over second place D. J. Kennington, but early in the event Kennington was forced behind pit wall with a blown motor which sealed the deal for Ranger as they were the only two in contention.

NCATS: Whitlock Finishes Season With Another Top Five Finish
PETERBOROUGH, ON - Sunday night's running of the Dodge Charger 250 presented by Allied Steel, marked the end of the inaugural season of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2007. Dave Whitlock and the No 39 Dickies/Hamilton Tiger-Cats/NMT Dodge Charger team worked hard all night long to bring home their third top five finish in a row in this historic event.
Practice earlier in the day would see Whitlock in the top ten on the time charts. Qualifying was a bit of a disappointment, but for the third race in a row they have come from deep in the field to post a top five finish. Teammate Mark Dilley driving the No. 9 Dodge sponsored Avenger would earn his second Budweiser Pole Award.
When the green flag fell at 6:00 p.m. for the start of the Dodge Charger 250, Whitlock was lined up on the outside of row nine. It was a battle all night long and even after being accessed a one lap penalty for dropping down to soon to come to pit road, they rallied back to finish fifth. �We had to work very hard tonight for this finish,� stated Whitlock. �My team made a lot of adjustments to the car but in the end it was running good. I want to thank my team as well as all of our sponsors for a great year and these three top fives at the end are a great momentum boost to take us into the 2008 season.�
Finish 1. No. 22 Scott Steckly 2. No.1 Peter Gibbons 3. No. 60 Ron Beauchamp Jr. 4. No. 77 Derek Lynch 5. No. 39 Dave Whitlock. With Dodge cars taking the last four checkered flags, they were able to win the Manufacturers Cup for the second year in a row.
Even though the No. 39 Dickies/Hamilton Tiger-Cats/NMT Dodge Charger finished fifth in the race, they lost a position in the standings to race winner Steckly and will be scored eleventh in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in year one.

REPORT: Serie ACT Castrol's 13th annual St-Eustache 300
ST-EUSTACHE, QC – Entering Sunday's 13th annual St-Eustache 300 at Quebec's Autodrome St-Eustache, Sylvain Lacombe trailed Patrick Laperle by 26 points in the season long serie ACT Castrol standings.
If the veteran driver was to have any chance at backing up his 2005 championship he was going to have to earn every point possible in the season finale at the flat 4/10ths mile oval. Lacombe did everything humanly possible including winning the event and leading the most laps to post the maximum number of points in the feature race. Unfortunately for the Terrebonne, Qc driver lady luck was not on his side.
Instead of changing his driving style to protect his championship point lead, Laperle, the young upstart from St-Denis, Qc did what he knows best and drove hard for the win. After 300 laps he crossed the finish line in second place, right on Lacombe's rear bumper. Third went to Alexandre Gingras from Quebec City. Jean-Francois Dery, the 2006 championship runner-up was fourth and Jacques Laperle, Patrick's cousin completed the top five.
With two events remaining on the 12-race schedule, Laperle commented about his chances at the title, "I learned a few years ago when I was in the battle for the ACT Tour title with Jean-Paul Cyr, that you shouldn't change what has worked for you. At the time I tried to protect my point lead by driving conservatively and everything started to go wrong. After that happened, I determined if I was ever in the same situation again I wouldn't change how I race."
In front of a large crowd, 29 of the 30 cars who entered the race started the main event. Ontario racer, Robbie Thompson, hot off a top 10 finish in an ACT Tour event at Kawartha Speedway (Fraserville, ON) lost a rear-end in practice and was unable to make repairs.
Pole sitter Daniel Bergeron led the first 42 circuits but gave up the advantage to veteran and local favorite Normand Lavigueur. Lavigueur, winner of an earlier serie ACT Castrol event at the Autodrome was unable to hold off his friend and car builder "Super" Mario Gosselin. Gosselin, a Quebec native who now resides in Florida, has beencompeting in the Southern US with ARCA and other series. He took over as the half-way mark approached.
Lacombe regained the point on lap 155 only to have Gosselin wrestle it back four laps later as the leaders scattered to avoid a spinning car in the third turn. On a subsequent yellow flag, Gosselin and many of the other frontrunners elected to pit for tires and fuel which put Patrick Laperle on the point. His advantage was quickly erased by Lacombe and despite several caution periods and restarts later in the race, Lacombe never relinquished the lead.
Completing the top ten finishers were Claude Leclerc, in sixth, Marc-Andre Cliché, Andre Coursol, Martin Lacomeb and Eric Lehoux.

The Mopar Parts Dodge team had worked tirelessly in the past few weeks to turn their fortunes around and bring home the type of finishes they had collected earlier in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season. At the final event of the season, the Dodge Charger 250 at Kawartha Speedway their efforts were rewarded.
As practice began on the high banked, high speed track Ron Beauchamp Jr. was posting impressive times in the Mopar Parts Dodge. "This is a really nice track, a lot of fun to drive, especially when the car feels this good," smiled the driver. Beauchamp would post the eighth quickest qualifying time during time trials and start on the outside of row four.
It's been a struggle for Team Mopar in the second half of the season. The Mopar Parts Dodge has shown good speed at times but a host of mechanical troubles and incidents have prevented them from showing how strong a team they are. Determined to change their luck all looked positive in the early going. "I just cruised around out there," said Beauchamp. "The track had cooled down and changed a lot since the afternoon session and we just wanted to stay in the top ten until our pit stop and make a few changes."
Taking advantage of a caution period prior to the halfway point Team Mopar performed perfectly giving Beauchamp two fresh tires, fuel to go the distance and adjusting the handling on the car. �I like the idea to pit early," said Beauchamp. "We needed to make changes and when the stops cycle through you should have track position later on and that's how it worked out for us."
As other teams made their stops The Mopar Parts Dodge continued to run strong lap after lap. Often times a driver needs to be aggressive to succeed. However Beauchamp knew he would have to preserve his car to make sure he had sufficient tires left for the end after the early pit stop. "I was just taking it easy, getting off the throttle a bit early when I could to preserve the car and the race really started to come to us," said the driver.
As the laps wound down Beauchamp would move up to third in the running order and with a couple of late restarts hoped to gain further positions on a green, white checkered finish. "I tried to run a little harder on the restart but it didn't work out for us," said Beauchamp. "I was really pushing, but the car took a couple of laps for the tires to come in, five more laps and we would have been there."

"The guys are already starting to look ahead to next year, and it's nice for Mopar, Exide, Mobil One and everybody that supports us and stuck with us. NCATS: Castrol Dodge team fall just short in Championship
KENNINGTON & CASTROL DODGE TEAM FALL JUST SHORT IN CHAMPIONSHIPDJ Kennington and the Castrol Dodge Team were riding the wave of momentum heading into the final NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event of the season, the Dodge Charger 250 at Kawartha Speedway. Kennington had posted a victory and a third place finish in back to back races and closed to within a handful of points in the championship standings headed to race number twelve.
The Castrol Crew continued their solid work and had the Castrol Dodge up among the quickest cars in practice staking their case to claim a championship. The luck of the draw would work against the team in qualifying. Kennington drew the first position for qualifying runs and although his time was decent, the track improved dramatically as more rubber was put down on the track. Kennington would start the Castrol Dodge from the 15th position. "It's really tough when you go first in qualifying," said the driver. "There is such a difference in track conditions that you can't do anything about."Ever positive however Kennington added "but I know we'll have a good car for the race."
As usual the Castrol Driver was correct. As the green flag signaled the start of action Kennington had the Castrol Dodge working the way he wanted and was quickly inside the top-ten and ahead of the #27 car that he had to beat to have a shot at the championship. "I wasn't pushing the car at all," said the driver. "I just wanted to take my time. I knew we could get to the front."
The Castrol Dodge continued to move forward and the competition went in the opposite direction and improving the chances of Kennington to take over the lead. With all signs positive for the Castrol Team, they quickly changed. Without warning the Castrol Dodge began to slow on the race track, smoke clearly visible from underneath the car. "I knew it was bad right away," said Kennington.
Kennington was forced to bring the Castrol Dodge to pit road, the driver and team quickly determining the problem was terminal. Their night and championship hopes were finished. "We had a part failure in the Castrol Dodge and that did us in. I was only running about 7,200 RPM and not pushing the car too hard at all, but it's just one of those things that bite you now and then."
Despite the setback it was still a very impressive season for the Castrol Dodge team posting two victories and finishing second in the overall Championship. "It's great for everybody," said Kennington. "Castrol and Dodge and everybody who helps us out with our program, we couldn't do it without them. Congratulations to Dodge in winning the manufacturers cup and congratulations to the #27 team, we'll be back next year though looking to take the title."
DJ Kennington and the Castrol Dodge team will attend the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series year end awards banquet on Saturday, October 13th in Toronto to accept several awards recognizing their outstanding season.
